Speaker Highlight: Stuart McNarry

 

 

 

Stuart McNarry is an Ulsterman who swam for Ards Swimming Club.

 

 

 

He went to Cardiff Metropolitan University, where he studied Sport and Human Movement, followed by a Post Grad Physical Education.

 

 

 

His passion for swimming never waned and he became Head Coach at Tiverton SC and later Exeter City SC.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Stuart joined Swim Wales in 2008 in a joint role as National Talent ID coach and Head Coach for the Swansea University performance programme. During his tenure, he coached swimmers to international success at junior and senior levels and worked on the British Swimming’s World Class Programme. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In more recent years Stuart’s role within the organisation has evolved to that of a performance-specific role where he is currently one of two coaches operating the Swim Wales Performance Centre based at the Wales National Pool Swansea.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In recent years Stuart has had several International success with his athletes which includes supporting Alys Thomas to a Gold medal in a Games Record time at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and Aaron Moores to Paralympic Gold in 2016. Under Stuart’s guidance, Aaron also set a Paralympic world record for the 100 Breaststroke in 2016.

 

 

 

Stuart also coached two swimmers onto Team GB for the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games
